What is a Registered Massage Therapist, and what makes them different from someone who isn’t an RMT?
A Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) is a health care practitioner who has completed two to three years of schooling, and has passed written and practical examination with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO). Massage Therapy is a regulated health profession, and every RMT is held to specific standards. RMTs are knowledgable about many subjects including but not limited to anatomy, pathology, hydrotherapy, and physiology. Their knowledge in these subjects allows them to know when and where treatment is effective and safe.
